John,

Right now, undocumented New Yorkers are at imminent risk. Over the past 7 months, ICE deported over 35,000 people ([link removed]) , separating them from their families and homes with little notice or regard for their rights or the well-being of their families. Despite promised reforms ([link removed]) to immigration enforcement, thousands of New Yorkers live in daily fear of surveillance, detention, and deportation, making simple everyday chores like driving to a doctor’s appointment or going to the supermarket or taking their children to school stressful. It is critical that we take action now to help pass the New York for All Act to protect immigrant New Yorkers.

The New York for All Act ([link removed]) would prohibit local law enforcement and state agencies from conspiring with ICE or participating in its cruelty. It would also protect people in custody by requiring that they be given notice of their rights before they are interviewed by ICE.
Take Action to Pass the NY for All Act! ([link removed])

The pandemic has continued to threaten the safety of New Yorkers in their homes and communities—immigrants should not be threatened by ICE in their daily lives as well. Beyond ending the abusive tactics of ICE, the New York for All Act would help improve trust in local officials and keep local resources in our communities ([link removed]) , not in the hands of federal immigration enforcement.

Passing the New York for All Act sends a message that New York prioritizes the safety and security of all its families, regardless of immigration status. The bill helps immigrant New Yorkers lead freer lives and take care of family, preserves state and local resources,, and ensures New York dollars cannot be diverted to carry out ICE’s cruelty.

Demand that your legislators work to safeguard immigrant communities today! ([link removed])
