Learn about yesterday's Memorial Day Ceremonies held in the 14th District Honoring The Fallen Across Northwest Georgia Hello John, While a somber day for our country, Memorial Day always brings out the best of what our nation is all about as we remember the sacrifice of those who never came home. Yesterday, after honoring the fallen at both the Rome and Rockmart Memorial Day Ceremonies, I came away so encouraged by the people of Northwest Georgia who took time to remember individuals from their communities who paid the ultimate price. In Rome, the Memorial Day Ceremony held at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds was organized by The Exchange Club of Rome, where more than 200 people gathered. I’ve included a few pictures below from the service, as well as video of the “Firing Volley” by the Cherokee Artillery and Honor Guard, American Legion Post 5. I met a 95-year-old WWII veteran as well as many others who gathered to honor the fallen. I’ve included a few pictures below as well as a video of the color guard and rifle salute, followed by the playing of TAPS. My staff was on hand in Dallas for their Memorial Day Ceremony yesterday morning, and I wanted to send a big THANK YOU to the American Legion Post 111 in Paulding County for organizing the event. Thank you once again to everyone across Northwest Georgia who participated in and organized Memorial Day Ceremonies yesterday and throughout the weekend!
