While a somber day for our country, Memorial Day always brings out the best of what our nation is all about as we remember the sacrifice of those who never came home.
Yesterday, after honoring the fallen at both the Rome and Rockmart Memorial Day Ceremonies, I came away so encouraged by the people of Northwest Georgia who took time to remember individuals from their communities who paid the ultimate price.
In Rome, the Memorial Day Ceremony held at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds was organized by The Exchange Club of Rome, where more than 200 people gathered. I’ve included a few pictures below from the service, as well as video of the “Firing Volley” by the Cherokee Artillery and Honor Guard, American Legion Post 5.
