www.bradyunited.org [www.bradyunited.org]BIG NEWS, John:

Our years-long investigation into the ATF, our government’s sole enforcer of our nation’s gun laws, was published this week in USA Today and The Trace. You don’t want to miss what we uncovered about non-compliant gun dealers and the ATF inspection system. Will you read our exclusive right now?

READ NOW >>> [[link removed]]The Brady Legal team has worked tirelessly to get us to this point, friend. After we sued the Department of Justice and ATF, we analyzed over 30,000 pages of gun dealer inspection reports, finding what we’ve asserted for years: The ATF is in desperate need of steady leadership, modernization, and Congressional support — rather than constraint at the behest of the multi-billion dollar gun lobby.

Especially when gun dealers knowingly break the law and are given only warnings from the ATF. Far too many reckless gun dealers are still in operation.

If you enjoy reading about our work to reform the ATF, sign up now to be the first to know about our Gun Store Transparency Project launches this summer. [[link removed]] Our interactive map will pinpoint federally licensed gun dealers that violate the law and potentially fuel the sale of crime guns [[link removed]] in America. This vital resource will help provide data that has been historically unavailable to local elected officials and our communities to finally conduct oversight of gun dealers that knowingly break the law and hold them accountable.

This Week, We Educated Congress About the Importance of Safe FirearmStorage

[link removed] [[link removed]]This week, End Family Fire Director Ted Bonar testified before a Congressional committee about how safe firearm storage can reduce “family fire,” or a shooting involving a misused gun in the home that results in death or injury. Suicide, intentional shootings, and unintentional shootings are all forms of family fire — which, tragically, accounts for more than HALF of all gun deaths in America.

With an epidemic impacting so many Americans, especially the veteran community, it’s up to all of us — gun owners and non-gun owners alike — to help End Family Fire. In case you missed the hearing, here are 3 key points Ted explained about suicide and firearms:

VICTORY: Brady Nevada Helps Advance Landmark Bill to Ban Untraceable and Homemade “Ghost Guns”

Thanks to your calls and advocacy, Brady Nevada helped pass a historic bill to ban ghost guns! Now this vital bill heads to Gov. Sisolak for this signature.

[[link removed]]As this landmark bill becomes closer to state law, we thank our partners at Battle Born Progress [[link removed]] for their legislative support and Assemblywoman Jauregui [[link removed]] for introducing this bill. In 2017, Assemblywoman Jauregui survived the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival, where a gunman shot and killed more than 50 people and injured hundreds more in the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history.

Turning her pain into action, Assemblywoman Jauregui has championed this lifesaving Nevada legislation, which sets a model for the nation by banning ghost guns and the parts necessary to build them. For the public safety of all Nevadans, we’re calling [[link removed]] on Gov. Sisolak to sign this bill into law immediately.

[link removed] [[link removed]]This week, senators kicked off their congressional hearing for David Chipman to serve as the director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Now it’s up to us to ensure a smooth process to #ConfirmChipman — because the ATF, our nation’s sole enforcer of our gun laws, needs help: it’s understaffed, underfunded, and hasn’t had a permanent director since 2015.

We helped reveal [[link removed]] just how desperate the need of steady leadership, modernization, and Congressional support the ATF needs in an exclusive with USA Today and the Trace.

But with Chipman’s extensive 25-year history as an ATF agent, he is highly and uniquely qualified for this important role. Will you let your senators know that right now? With a national epidemic like gun violence, we need a strong leader at the ATF to combat gun violence and hold the gun industry accountable!
