Last March, Indigenous Environmental Network : [link removed] with eight progressive, climate action and indigenous justice-focused peer organizations to launch the historicProtecting the Peoples Emergency Partnership Fund : [link removed] with the belief that the intersectional causes of climate justice and indigenous justice are inseparable.


This fund was driven by and for the Indigenous community aiming to respond to the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on Indigenous communities across Turtle Island. The combined fundraising and mask donation effort has collected and organized the donation of more than 200,000 masks to Indigenous communities from the Arctic to the Amazon. 


Despite recent CDC recommendations, we are still in the middle of a pandemic and while more Natives are being vaccinated every day, our communities are still in need of PPE, particularly those without easy access to the vaccine, to protective resources, and to health care services in general. 


Thanks to a generous donor we are able to offer limited edition Protect the People’s gear featuring a hoodie with IEN’s basic logo and an awesome photo of Chief Red Cloud masked up.

The Protecting the Peoples Emergency Partnership Fund is comprised of the Indigenous Environmental Network, Eaton Workshop, Movement Rights, Texas Environmental Justice Advocacy Services, Idle No More-SF Bay, Amazon Watch, Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN), and Global Exchange, organizations uniting to launch the Protecting the Peoples Emergency (PPE) Partnership Fund to supply Indian Country with Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
