Relatives,
Last March, Indigenous Environmental Network partnered with eight progressive, climate action and indigenous justice-focused peer organizations to launch the historic Protecting the Peoples Emergency Partnership Fund with the belief that the intersectional causes of climate justice and indigenous justice are inseparable.
This fund was driven by and for the Indigenous community aiming to respond to the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on Indigenous communities across Turtle Island. The combined fundraising and mask donation effort has collected and organized the donation of more than 200,000 masks to Indigenous communities from the Arctic to the Amazon.
Despite recent CDC recommendations, we are still in the middle of a pandemic and while more Natives are being vaccinated every day, our communities are still in need of PPE, particularly those without easy access to the vaccine, to protective resources, and to health care services in general.
Thanks to a generous donor we are able to offer limited edition Protect the People’s gear featuring a hoodie with IEN’s basic logo and an awesome photo of Chief Red Cloud masked up.
These will be on sale until June 10th-- so get yours now and join us in protecting the peoples!
Thank you for your support-- together we can protect the peoples,
JoKay Dowell
