It’s widely understood that the earth must reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. To get us there, the International Energy Agency released a roadmap. WRI’s energy and climate experts unpack the new IEA study. One area of disagreement: they consider the IEA’s estimates of biofuel use “unrealistic” because it would compete with food needs and other land uses. Read more

The number of people living in African cities could double in the next 30 years, to an estimated 1.5 billion. Where will they get clean drinking water?
