Washington Gas Teamsters `Blow the Whistle' on corporate greed
Washington Gas workers will rally and literally "Blow the Whistle Against Corporate Greed" at company facilities this morning 6a to 7a (see Calendar). Hundreds of whistles are being provided to the protesting Teamsters for these actions. The contract covering 600 union employees at Washington Gas -- owned by AltaGas, a Canadian corporation -- expires on May 31. Teamsters Local 96 has scheduled a strike authorization vote for next week. "Washington Gas workers have worked throughout the COVID pandemic at risk to ourselves and our families. We are essential workers, and we will not allow the company to treat us like we're disposable," said Washington Gas worker and Local 96 Teamster President Wilder Reed.

Today's Labor Quote: Marty Walsh
"I grew up in a blue collar family and worked in construction - I knew people who got hurt on the job, and even lost their life. I've seen it shatter families and throw communities into grief. On #WorkersMemorialDay, we honor those who died & hold their families in our hearts."
The Secretary of Labor laid a wreath at the DOL on April 28, Workers Memorial Day.
