Today, we got news of one of our best opportunities yet. Representative Val Demings – one of the managers of Trump’s first impeachment trial – is announcing a run to challenge Marco Rubio for his Florida Senate seat.

Our majorities in both the House and the Senate are razor thin . And with GOP-favored redistricting and assaults on voting rights popping up in state legislatures across the country, keeping control in 2022 means fighting for every seat.

Rep. Demings has proven that she will take on Trump and his allies head on to defend our democracy. She has a serious shot at retaking this seat, but if there’s anything we’ve learned from 2020 – and The 147 special elections we’re already seeing – it’s that her victory is going to require the unified, full-throated support of grassroots Democrats like us, friend.
