Over the past 2 weeks, the GOP has proven time and again that they are the party of Trump, of the Big Lie, of January 6th, and of insurrection. Defending our democracy means keeping the Party of Insurrection out of the majority at every turn, and it means fighting at every opportunity we’re given.

Today, we got news of one of our best opportunities yet. Representative Val Demings – one of the managers of Trump’s first impeachment trial – is announcing a run to challenge Marco Rubio for his Florida Senate seat.
 


Our majorities in both the House and the Senate are razor thin. And with GOP-favored redistricting and assaults on voting rights popping up in state legislatures across the country, keeping control in 2022 means fighting for every seat.

Rep. Demings has proven that she will take on Trump and his allies head on to defend our democracy. She has a serious shot at retaking this seat, but if there’s anything we’ve learned from 2020 – and The 147 special elections we’re already seeing – it’s that her victory is going to require the unified, full-throated support of grassroots Democrats like us, and that starts now.

Operation 147 has already proven that we’re ready and willing to fight where others aren’t. This is another one of those fights, and we need you with us.
