“Doctor, my eyes
Tell me what is wrong
Was I unwise to leave them open for so long?”
I’ve been re-watching the astonishingly great 2013 two-part documentary “The History of the Eagles.” The Eagles are one of my favorite bands ever and I go through periods of time where their albums are the only thing I listen to. The Eagles’ music has been a big part of my life since early childhood when I got into them by diving into my parents’ record collection.
One of the many cool things about the Eagles is that early on, their music developed alongside of friends' Jackson Browne and Linda Ronstadt. Glenn Frey and Browne even famously wrote “Take it Easy” together. In the documentary, Frey says that he learned how to write songs by observing Browne’s process as he wrote “Doctor My Eyes.”
