U.S. to Send 20 Million Vaccine Doses in June

The United States will send at least 20 million coronavirus vaccine doses in June to countries struggling against the pandemic, answering calls that the Biden administration isn’t doing enough to help countries that face dire shortages of vaccines and other treatments, as the NYT reports.

And, as the Washington Post reports, global health policy experts (including CSIS) Monday called on President Biden to designate a single coordinator for the U.S. international virus response and take four other specific steps to address worldwide vaccine shortfalls.

Averting Tariff Hike on Harleys

The United States and the European Union agreed on Monday not to escalate their dispute over U.S. steel and aluminum tariffs, averting steep EU tariff hikes while the two sides launch formal talks on addressing excess global capacity largely centered in China, as Reuters reports.

“Doctor, my eyes
Tell me what is wrong
Was I unwise to leave them open for so long?”

I’ve been re-watching the astonishingly great 2013 two-part documentary “The History of the Eagles.” The Eagles are one of my favorite bands ever and I go through periods of time where their albums are the only thing I listen to. The Eagles’ music has been a big part of my life since early childhood when I got into them by diving into my parents’ record collection.

One of the many cool things about the Eagles is that early on, their music developed alongside of friends' Jackson Browne and Linda Ronstadt. Glenn Frey and Browne even famously wrote “Take it Easy” together. In the documentary, Frey says that he learned how to write songs by observing Browne’s process as he wrote “Doctor My Eyes.”
