Anyone who has had to go to an Emergency Room, stay overnight in a hospital, receive treatment for an illness or condition, or plan the birth of a child likely understands: the American healthcare system is irreparably broken.
We made very important strides with Obamacare: banning discrimination based on pre-existing conditions; establishing marketplaces for individual insurance; and implementing stricter standards for coverage and more robust regulation of a multi-billion dollar industry. But it isn’t enough, and it isn’t working on its own and without new laws and new ways to lower costs and cover every single American citizen.
While Ike's opponent, Congressman Ken Buck, repeatedly voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act—which would have left millions without access to care—Ike committed his campaign to universal healthcare access and affordability for every single person in America, including mental health.
