As I mentioned in the video, the role that you have played to safely reopen schools in the midst of a pandemic is nothing short of extraordinary. Our theme this year, Championing the Whole Student, is one that each and every one of you has embodied during this unprecedented time in our lives. Jon Tester (D-Montana) for their leadership in introducing the Nurses for Under-Resourced Schools Everywhere (NURSE) Act, which would help rural and underserved schools hire more full-time school nurses. REGISTER NOW COVID-19 Updates Infection Prevention and Control in Schools Resources Launched COVID Collaborative, Harvard’s Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics, Brown School of Public Health, and New America task force released resources to help schools implement CDC guidance and safely get students and staff back to in-person learning. The guidance focused on infection prevention and control, including a roadmap of helpful case studies, a consensus statement from leading scientists on the science of how to best protect students and staff, and a use of funds memo outlining how to strategically use authorized funds. Resources for Reopening Schools from the Learning Policy Institute COVID-19 in Child Care and Preschool Settings: This research summary of 11 studies reveals that early learning programs are not associated with an increased risk of COVID-19 infection when providers follow proper mitigation measures. New York City Public Schools: Supporting School Reopening With a Focus on Testing and Tracing: Our second brief in our reopening schools series, this resource describes New York City's reopening efforts, which brought students back through extensive cooperation between the district and the teachers union, multilayered mitigation strategies, and significant investments in testing and tracing. Marin County: Leveraging Education and Public Health Partnerships to Support School Reopening: Our first brief in the reopening school series, this resource describes reopening efforts in Marin County, CA, which offers examples of collaboration and communication among school districts, the county office of education, and the county health office. REGISTER NOW Improving School Community and Student Health Educate Your School During Skin Cancer Awareness Month Skin cancer is America’s most common cancer, and it can affect anyone. Fortunately, skin cancer is also one of the most preventable forms of cancer. About 90 percent of nonmelanoma skin cancers and 85 percent of melanoma cases are associated with exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Share facts about the dangers of unprotected exposure with your school communities, encouraging people to check their skin for warning signs. Communities Talk to Prevent Underage Drinking Kicks Off The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s eighth round of Communities Talk to Prevent Underage Drinking is officially underway. Learn more below about the differences between the two: Virtual NASN2021 | 24.25 CNE Contact Hours 14.5 + 6.0 CNE of sessions presented during a 5-day schedule. If you miss the sessions when they are presented, you can still view them on your own time for 90 days following the conference. The + 6.0 CNE accounts for the six sets of concurrent sessions presented in the 5-day schedule. You can view one when it is presented and still view the other on your own time for 90 days following the conference. 3.75 CNE of poster presentations you can view on your own time for 90 days (.25 for each poster).
