Friends – We really hear a lot of gross arguments from our colleagues across the aisle, but this one takes the cake.

"DC wouldn't even qualify as a singular congressional district, and here they are: They want the power and the authority of being an entire state in the United States," Rep. Nancy Mace (SC-01), April 20th, 2021

In an April 20th news conference, Rep. Nancy Mace (SC-01) said with a grotesque amount of privilege in her voice that D.C. wouldn’t even qualify as a single congressional district. When asked to elaborate on why she felt that way, she didn’t answer.

We just want to know, why? Because according to census data, Washington D.C. has more residents than the average U.S. congressional district, 712,000 vs. 710,000.

Is it because the population of D.C. would have the largest black population of any state?

We hope that’s not the reason Nancy thinks they don’t qualify.

D.C. statehood is a civil rights issue, period. 712,000 people are depending on you to sign on, team, can you stand with them and tell the Senate to pass D.C. statehood?

I AGREE, D.C.STATEHOOD NOW

We cannot allow injustices to continue. The residents of D.C. have protected the highest offices of our government for centuries. It’s time they got a seat at the table.
