Spring Is In The Air

Twin Ports DSA Members and Associates,

Here's what is happening this week:

Tonight, 7pm, the Labor Engagement Group meets to continue work on the Pro ACT and more. Use this link to join us ([link removed] ) . More members are always welcome.

Friday, 5:30 pm, the Racial Justice Working Group meets. Email Lydia Goustin at [email protected] for a link to join.

Also Friday, time and location yet to be determined, we hope to have our first outdoor casual chapter check-in. So far weather looks good, warmer than recently. I will send an email with details later this week. It has been a long winter and many people have zoom fatigue, and in-person gatherings are very important (and fun).

On Saturday, May 15th, UMD YDSA is hosting our Racial Justice Working Group for a presentation on their work. If you would like to attend, use this link to register ([link removed] ) .

Finally, a reminder to the steering committee that Sunday at 2pm is our monthly steering meeting. I will send a link to members. If you are a chapter member and would like to attend, let me know and I will send it to you as well.

For those of you not on Facebook (and that's probably a good thing) here are a few of the more interesting articles we shared last week:

Jane McAlevey on why the union drive lost in Bessemer ([link removed]) .

NY State might be on the verge ([link removed]) of getting single payer health care (but opposition is powerful).

Locally, we have this news from the DNT ([link removed]) : "According to a news release from the Minnesota Nurses Association, health care workers at Essentia and CHI worry that the acquisition will result in less access to patient care. The health systems signed a letter of intentin early January ([link removed]) for Essentia to acquire 17 CommonSpirit facilities in Minnesota and North Dakota."

In solidarity,
John Krumm
TPDSA Secretary
