On Tuesday morning, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer invited Peggy Shepard and other environmental leaders to speak at his press conference announcing the Clean Transit for America plan ([link removed]) . Among the plan's improvements for public transit, it would provide funds for the MTA to purchase all-electric buses for its entire fleet. Rally to Phase Out Natural Gas
in New Construction in NYC

Did you know that emissions from natural gas cause more premature deaths in New York State than emissions from coal? Natural gas is a fossil fuel, and we need to phase it out to reduce harmful indoor air pollution and emissions that contribute to clime change. In addition to the statewide work we are doing on this front ([link removed]) , we are also part of coalition that is pushing for legislation to phase out the use of natural gas in new construction here in New York City. Join us at 7:00 PM EDT on Tuesday, May 18 for an an online rally to show support for this legislation. RSVP ([link removed])

Help with Internet Access

The Federal Communications Commission has introduced Emergency Broadband Benefit, a temporary program to help households struggling to afford internet service during the pandemic. Visit fcc.gov/broadbandbenefit ([link removed]) to see if you qualify and learn how to apply. Of course, if you are struggling with internet service, putting that sort of information online isn’t going to be of much help, so call 833-511-0311 for information on the program.
