Greetings Ward 8 Residents,

Throughout the four years I have been the Ward 8 Councilmember, we have hosted several annual events to support the needs of Ward 8 residents.

To make these events possible, we rely on the charitable contributions from sponsors that graciously provide monetary and [DEL: i :DEL] n-kind donations. During the peak of the public health emergency, we had sponsors that turned out in record numbers to not only ensure we had funds to purchase Thanksgiving turkeys and toys for the holidays, but also to ensure that all residents had hot meals and PPE throughout last summer.

Additionally, we could not host these events without the physical support from our volunteers that came out during the pandemic to help distribute these donations.

At this time, we are calling on our volunteers and sponsors to join us for a zoom Appreciation Reception ([link removed]) so that we can have the opportunity to thank you for your continued support and dedication.

We invite the community-at-large to join, watch and support these groups and organizations by tuning in on May 20th at 6:30 pm.

Starting Monday, May 3, Deanwood and Southeast Libraries will open to provide limited in-person services. Saturday hours will become available at all open locations on Saturday, May 8.

All open library locations will expand hours to Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Library is removing the 2 - 3 p.m. closure for cleaning as per the updated cleaning guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Anacostia, Bellevue, Benning, Capitol View, Chevy Chase, Cleveland Park, Deanwood, Francis-Gregory, Georgetown, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, Mt. Pleasant, Northeast, Palisades, Petworth, Shaw, Shepherd Park, Southeast, Tenley-Friendship, West End and Woodridge.
You can visit our open libraries to:
* Return materials
* Pick up a hold
* Check out display items
* Have a book pulled from the stacks
* Get a library card
* Manage your library account
* Receive print, copy and scan services
* Sign-up to use a limited number of computers for a 45-minute session once per day or one 15 minute express session per hour
* Use the bathroom

WARD 8 WATER WATCHERS
On April 28th, Councilmember Trayon White joined the Ward 8 Water Watchers ([link removed]) at The Well at Oxon Run to learn about the stream and all the creatures that live in the water.

** Test Yourself DC is a COVID-19 At Home Testing Kit that allows you to take a COVID-19 test at home without having to wait in line at a testing site. The COVID-19 At Home Testing Kit should be used by individuals 18 years of age and older. Test Yourself DC kits are available for pick-up at 16 libraries located around the city.
