Dear Friends,
In the first 100 days of the Biden administration, we’ve
seen what happens when we work together to get programs passed
for the American people.
Democrats like Yvette are stepping up to help the American
people. For too long, this country has ignored essential
infrastructure packages in favor of small patch jobs. But not
this new administration.
The new infrastructure bill titled the American Jobs Plan
will ensure that our cities are both sustainable and safer.
Did you know that over the next 20 years, New York’s
drinking water infrastructure will require $22.8 billion in
additional funding? Well, this plan sets aside $111 billion to
cities across the country to make sure that no one is drinking
dirty or unsafe water.
The bill also tackles critical areas like childcare. In New
York alone, there is an estimated $2.91 billion gap in what
schools need for maintenance in New York alone. Schools! Places
where we’re teaching our next generation.
I encourage you to look into this bill because while it is
ambitious, it’s the ambition this country needs. We’re preparing
for the future using this bill. From 2010 to 2020, New York has
experienced 31 extreme weather events, costing the state up to
$100 billion in damages. By putting money into re-building now,
we can strengthen our infrastructure’s resiliency and support
communities’ recovery from disaster.
Yvette is working with the Biden-Harris administration to
get the American Jobs Plan passed and give America the
infrastructure boost it desperately needs. This plan will not
only help solve current problems, but it will also create
resiliency for the future.
