Dear Friend, Please join me this Friday at 2:00 PM Eastern for the next episode of the Smokescreen Facebook Live Interview Series. For this episode, I am thrilled to announce that I will be joined by former United States Attorney for Colorado, Bob Troyer, another individual prominently featured in my new book, Smokescreen: What the Marijuana Industry Doesn't Want You to Know. As the US Attorney for Colorado, Mr. Troyer called out Big Pot in an op-ed for The Denver Post arguing that it was “high time we took a breath from marijuana commercialization.” His piece pointed out that since 2012, youth marijuana use in Colorado was 85% higher than the national average, marijuana-related traffic fatalities were up by 151%, the illicit market was booming, and pot shops in the state were recommending their high potency products to pregnant women. Recently, Mr. Troyer once again made waves in Colorado with another op-ed endorsing the effort by State Representative Yadira Caraveo to follow the lead of Vermont in implementing a cap on THC potency in marijuana products. He even took the further step in calling on voters in the state to vote out lawmakers who oppose this evidence-based attempt to protect public health. Join us at 2:00 PM this Friday on our Facebook page as we talk about his experiences with the marijuana industry and why he is so outspoken today in the fight to implement a cap on marijuana potency and other common-sense regulations. While I have you here, the pot lobby is pressing Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to include his upcoming bill to federally legalize marijuana in a must-pass budget bill that will be passed via the reconciliation process. This process is used to bypass regular order in the United States Senate and pass bills with a simple majority rather than the standard 60 votes. Details of this bill are still unclear, but any bill that removes marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act will greatly benefit Big Marijuana and exacerbate the barrage of harms we are currently witnessing in states with “legal” marijuana markets. Click here to send an urgent message to your senators urging them to oppose this Big Pot Push. And, if you haven't done so already, please click here to order your copy of Smokescreen: What the Marijuana Industry Doesn't Want You to Know.
