What's Happening at the Center
I (http://) n his piece for the National Interest ([link removed]) , Todd Bensman explains that President Biden's deal to bolster troop deployments on Mexico's southern border will not ease the mounting mass-immigration crisis if the administration continues to reward illegal entry into the United States. By eliminating the Trump turn-back policies and granting most family units and unaccompanied teenagers legal permission to stay, Biden is encouraging a determined and growing wave of people to break the Mexican cordon. Short of reinstitution of deterrence-based policies by the United States, the Mexican operation will do nothing new to staunch the inexorable tide of humanity.

Georgia Legislature Makes It Easier for Illegals to Get Professional Licenses ([link removed])

Georgia’s state legislature — unless Gov. Brian Kemp takes corrective action — has made it easier for illegal aliens to get professional licenses in several occupations. While the actual negative labor market impacts (in terms of numbers) are modest, the symbolism is huge.

By David North, April 20, 2021
The Supreme Court of the U.S. heard arguments on April 19 on whether or not possession of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) can lead to full legal status. Much is at stake, as 400,000 or so aliens (from 10 different troubled nations) hold TPS status, some of them having done so for decades. Currently, they are allowed to work and to remain in the U.S., but only for the time being.

Biden Administration Continues to Admit Cheap Foreign Workers: Blue-collar Americans need not apply ([link removed])
By Robert Law
Throughout much of Joe Biden’s political career, he has postured as a champion of blue-collar workers. Now, as president, it is clear that he is the champion of foreign workers and unconcerned with the plight of Americans who continue to struggle economically.
