What's Happening at the Center
In his piece for the National Interest, Todd Bensman explains that President Biden's deal to bolster troop deployments on Mexico's southern border will not ease the mounting mass-immigration crisis if the administration continues to reward illegal entry into the United States. By eliminating the Trump turn-back policies and granting most family units and unaccompanied teenagers legal permission to stay, Biden is encouraging a determined and growing wave of people to break the Mexican cordon. Short of reinstitution of deterrence-based policies by the United States, the Mexican operation will do nothing new to staunch the inexorable tide of humanity.
