U.S. Virtual Launch: 2021 UNFPA State of World Population Report [[link removed]]Thursday, April 29 // 9–10:30 a.m. (ET)
Despite constitutional guarantees of gender equality in many countries, worldwide, on average, women enjoy just 75 percent of the legal rights of men. For some, the impact of gender inequality is amplified by multiple sources of discrimination based on age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, and geography. For women and girls, gender-discriminatory norms are the root cause of diminished bodily autonomy—the power to make their own choices about their bodies, and have those choices supported by society.
Join the Wilson Center’s Maternal Health Initiative and UNFPA for the U.S. launch of the 2021 UNFPA State of World Population report, titled " My Body is My Own: Claiming the Right to Autonomy and Self-Determination [[link removed]] ." Panelists will discuss bodily autonomy as it relates to gender-based violence; health care; and contraception; as well as look to challenges and solutions related to global declarations and policies and the inclusion of men and boys.

During his talk, Professor Vanni Pettinà will show how Latin America and The Global Cold War , fills this gap.
