Friends,

Last week, Hurricane Barry made landfall in Louisiana, coming after a season of unprecedented rainfall and flooding near the Mississippi River. Coming close to 14 years after Hurricane Katrina, frontline communities in the Gulf South lie at the intersections of oppression.

Our friends at the Gulf Coast Center for Law & Policy, highlighted the case of the United Houma Nation, who face the impact of a lack of federal recognition and the tribe’s capacity to respond to these climate threats.

We want to support the organizing efforts of these communities on the frontlines to build a just and equitable transition away from the climate crisis and towards a sustainable future.

Donate here ([link removed]) to support the community-controlled disaster relief fund. Sign the petition ([link removed]) to support the United Houma Nation. See below for opportunities to build the movement here in Massachusetts!

In solidarity,
Vignesh
