Friends,
Last week, Hurricane Barry made landfall in
Louisiana, coming after a season of unprecedented rainfall
and flooding near the Mississippi River. Coming close to 14 years
after Hurricane Katrina, frontline communities in the Gulf South lie
at the intersections of oppression.
Our friends at the Gulf Coast Center for Law & Policy, highlighted
the case of the United Houma Nation, who face the impact of a lack of
federal recognition and the tribe’s capacity to respond to these
climate threats.
We want to support the organizing efforts of these communities on the
frontlines to build a just and equitable transition away from the
climate crisis and towards a sustainable future.

for support from the climate movement. This fund was created for
recovery and to advance long term planning for stronger communities in
the face of continued disasters. 100% of proceeds go directly to Black
and Native communities on the frontline of climate change. Support their work here.
Petition to Support United Houma Nation: Sign this
petition for federal recognition for the United Houma Nation who
cannot directly access to federal resources or get support, due to the
lack of recognition by the US government. These signatures are
coordinated with the Principal Chief on the tribe’s annual trip to
visit DC decision-makers who have the power to approve the almost 40
