Happy National Volunteer Week!

Hi Friend, it’s National Volunteer Week!

Our volunteer crisis counselors have been saving lives for 23 years, and their commitment to supporting LGBTQ youth is nothing short of inspiring. As part of our valued community of supporters, we wanted to share just how much of an impact our volunteers can have, and how much they mean to us.

Did you know that The Trevor Project’s dedicated crisis counselors helped serve more than 150,000 contacts last year across our 24/7 lifeline, text, and chat crisis services?

The number of LGBTQ youth we serve has increased 50% year-over-year for the last three years — due in large part to our amazing volunteers.

To prepare volunteers to effectively support LGBTQ youth in crisis, they undergo a 40-hour virtual training that covers counseling skills, LGBTQ identity, empathy, active listening, and more. Once they graduate, volunteers commit to shifts each month, and participate in ongoing training, course refreshers, and feedback sessions with our staff.

With your help, we continue to recruit and train volunteer crisis counselors to consistently deliver a high quality of care to LGBTQ youth and save young lives every day.

Currently, we’re looking for digital volunteers who are interested in evening and overnight shifts (6PM–3AM PT) as well as those residing in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. If you or someone you know fits this criteria, we encourage you to learn more about our volunteer opportunities ([link removed]) and apply today.
