She is a proud Boricua, parent, community organizer and public education advocate, and longtime resident of District 38. Alexa will fight for well-resourced schools; safe and equitable school reopenings; dignified, affordable housing; equity and a Green New Deal for New York. Next up is Shahana Hanif [[link removed]] , a Kensington-born and raised daughter of Bangladeshi immigrants running to represent District 39, which includes the neighborhoods of Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Columbia Waterfront, Gowanus, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Borough Park, and Kensington. She is a first-generation Brooklynite, an experienced leader in the City Council, an esteemed community organizer and publicist with over 15 years of experience and dedication to advocacy and public service.
