Hi John!
Want to make a difference today? Here's how:
* County workers are on strike! Join the picket line! County workers are protesting Santa Clara County's plan to move the Family Resource Center from East San Jose to Downtown. The move would tear it away from the community it currently serves and would make the center inaccessible to their current clients.
Join our Labor Working Group on the SEIU picket line at the Family Resource Center:
591 N King Rd, San Jose. (This is today - Wednesday, October 2nd!)
๐ 11am-12pm for a rally and press conference.
๐ 6pm-9pm for a fun after-work turnout when the picket lines start to thin out and we can bolster the lines.
See you on the picket line!! (And hopefully at the Labor Art Build ([link removed]) on Sunday!)
* Our friends in the Bernie campaign are making one million calls by Sunday! Help Bernie get ahead in the Call To Win Week! ([link removed]) ๐ฆ โ
That's not all, of course:
* We're supporting new YDSA groups! YDSA is our campus section. YDSA chapters are primarily student-run and student-organized, and open to members of the campus community. If you want to get involved, sign up ([link removed]) and join our YDSA Interest Call ([link removed]) tonight. If you're at SJSU - come to our SJSU-specific meeting ([link removed]) on Sunday!
* Our Healthcare Working Group will be tabling at the Berryessa Flea Market this Saturday to spread the word about Medicare for All. Email
[email protected] (mailto:
[email protected]?subject=Baryessa%20tabling) if you'd like to help!
* Last week, members of our Housing Working Group joined with vehicle residents and community allies to speak out against proposed RV parking ban ordinances that Mountain View City Council ultimately voted to pass. (The bans are expected to pass a second reading on October 22.) To discuss how we can fight back, visit the Housing Working Group tomorrow ([link removed]) or later this month ([link removed]) .
