Friend --

This Saturday is our General Membership Meeting <[link removed]>! We've got a special guest from Teamster's Local 337, who just finished a successful strike, plus we'll talk how our chapter can support the PRO Act, and get updates on all of our campaigns. Be sure to come check it out!

Thanks to all of those that attended Monday’s final budget hearing to make a public comment and let City Council know that the people of Detroit want housing, healthcare, jobs, recreation, and reliable transportation - NOT increased funding for the police!

The other day, Councilmember Raquel Castañeda-López released a statement <[link removed]> about her intention to propose a slate of amendments meant to redirect $39.43 million dollars away from DPD’s budget and into other departments! We look forward to City Council voting on these amendments over the next few days. If you live in Detroit, we urge you to call your City Councilmember and demand that they vote in support of these amendments. Click here <[link removed]> for a script you can use while calling.

PRO Act Campaign and May Day Action

Our chapter, along with comrades across the country, joined in a national campaign to build support for the PRO Act by calling voters and pressuring key politicians to come out in support of the bill. After half a million calls, Senator Angus King has already changed his position on the bill.

The Ecosocialist Working Group is in the early stages of continuing work to support the PRO Act and an event for May Day! Email [email protected] <[link removed]> if you'd like to get involved.

"I applaud striking Teamster 337 members for inspiring the rest of us with a fight-back. I have learned lessons from strikes. I think these lessons are relevant to the current Teamster strike against 7-Up."

Detroit DSA is a 1200+ member funded organization. We receive no money from outside sources so we can say things like "Defund the Police" and "Abolish ICE" without losing funding, and we will always act democratically in the interests of our members and the working class! If you're able to, we ask that you make monthly contributions as they more directly benefit our chapter. Thank you for whatever amount you're able to contribute!

If you're ready to join us in our fight for the working class, sign up here: dsausa.org/join <[link removed]>and send your dues receipt to [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>to get plugged in!
