Libraries Week Header

Its going to be a busy month: Libraries Week, Nottinghams unique Mental Health Awareness Weeks and Get Online Week are all taking place in October!

During Libraries Week, communities and library staff across the country join in a week-long celebration of the nations much-loved libraries, and this years theme will focus onCelebrating Libraries in the Digital World [ [link removed] ].

Celebrate and explore how libraries engage with the digital world: from providing free computer access and free Wi-Fi, supporting local business and enterprise, building digital skills and confidence, encouraging digital participation to supporting health, wellbeing and education as more and more people come to libraries for their digital skills and services.

Having all this technology at our fingertips can be emotionally exhausting, and tying in with Nottingham Mental Health Awareness Weeks, we are also taking the time to look at some of the pitfalls that come with the digital world.

Great New Reads to Enjoy this Autumn

Do you sometimes feel social media is taking over your life and affectingyour wellbeing? Are you concerned about the effect social media is havingon a friend or family member?

As part of Libraries Week and Nottingham Mental Health Awareness Weeks were hosting a topical workshop examining the effect social media can have upon our wellbeing. Counsellor and psychotherapist Lina Mookerjee will lead the discussion and offer solutions and strategies for more positive interactions with social media.

Getting started with Pixel Art

Join us for this fun free family workshop in which you will explore pixel art. Working as a team you will learn the basics of how to create, modify and animate pixel art on a computer and take the first steps in making a video game!

This workshop is free and ideal for family groups and children aged 8-16 years.
