Friend,
This November, Americans turned out in record numbers and voted across the country. In January, more Georgians than ever voted in a special election and elected the first Black and first Jewish Senators from the state of Georgia
This week, Republicans in Georgia passed a sweeping voter suppression law that severely restricts access to the ballot box, including making it a crime to give voters food or water while they wait in line.
Since January, 250 pieces of voter suppression legislation have been introduced around the country. These laws disproportionately target Americans that are Black, Brown, young, low income, and disabled.
We need to end the filibuster and the Senate needs to pass H.R. 1.
H.R. 1 will:
Make it easier for all Americans, regardless of party affiliation, to vote.
End racist gerrymandering.
Limit big money in politics and lower financial barriers to run for office.
Democracy should be about a battle of ideas, not who can suppress the vote the best. That's why the House passed H.R. 1. Now, we need the Senate to do the same.
If you agree that we need to protect voting rights, here’s how to help:

It is long overdue for Congress to expand access to the ballot box to get more people involved. A confident country faces challenges head on. Let’s face and address this challenge together.
Thank you,
Peter
