Decades in the making, one of the biggest changes to our democracy could begin in just two days -- the House is holding a hearing to consider making Washington D.C. a state.

D.C. has nearly 700,000 residents -- more than Wyoming and Vermont -- but it doesn't get a single vote in Congress to show for it. Now that Democrats control Congress and the presidency, there's a clear opportunity to make progress here -- but only if every single person is on board.

Here's the thing: AOC, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer support the proposal -- but the GOP will do absolutely anything to stop it.
