Decades in the making, one of the biggest changes to our democracy could begin in just two days -- the House is holding a hearing to consider making Washington D.C. a state.
D.C. has nearly 700,000 residents -- more than Wyoming and Vermont -- but it doesn't get a single vote in Congress to show for it. Now that Democrats control Congress and the presidency, there's a clear opportunity to make progress here -- but only if every single person is on board.
Here's the thing: AOC, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer support the proposal -- but the GOP will do absolutely anything to stop it. And since they're wielding the filibuster over everything we do, we'll need every single congressional Democrat on board if we'll have a chance at beating Mitch McConnell.
