🌹 Remember Rosie Jimenez: Rally for Reproductive Justice ([link removed]) 🌹
Thu, Oct 3 · Westlake Park 5-7PM
In 1977, Rosie Jimenez, a Latinx college student and single mother, was the first known person to die after the Hyde Amendment banned federal funds from covering Medicaid abortions. This effectively cut millions of low-income people off from safe access to reproductive healthcare. She felt she had no choice but to seek out a cheap and dangerous procedure. Tragically, the current assaults on reproductive justice mean that many people, especially women of color, will face a similar dilemma.

We will be meeting on the anniversary of Rosie's death from an unsafe abortion. Join us in Westlake Park from 5 - 7PM on Thursday, October 3rd, to bring home the need for a strong movement that demands "Our bodies! Our choice!" regardless of race, immigration status, age, or gender identification.

The Rosie Jimenez Day Rally is co-sponsored by Gender Justice League, Radical Women, Red Union, Seattle Clinic Defense, Seattle DSA Queer and Feminist Caucus, and Sex Workers Outreach Project - Seattle.

How do we organize to keep the climate crisis from tipping past a point of no return?

'Gaza Fights For Freedom' Screening w/ Abby Martin Q&A ([link removed])
October 9, 2019 at the NW Film Forum
Witness Gaza’s protest movement like you’ve never seen before. Filmed during the height of the Great March Of Return protests, this movie features riveting, exclusive footage of demonstrations.

The documentary tells the story of Gaza past and present, showing rare archival footage that explains the history never acknowledged by mass media. You hear from victims of the ongoing massacre, including journalists, medics and the family of internationally-acclaimed paramedic, Razan al-Najjar.

At its core, ‘Gaza Fights For Freedom’ is a thorough indictment of the Israeli military for war crimes, and a stunning cinematic portrayal of Palestinians' heroic resistance.

Election Data Analysis Training ([link removed])
October 12 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Seattle DSA’s electoral committee is looking to create a team of data experts who can help the chapter analyze previous election results, so we can prioritize races in which to invest, identify the type of candidate who might do well in each race, optimize targeted voter outreach in those races, and overall better spend our limited resources.
We are starting with a two-hour hands-on training session on precinct-level voter analysis. Bring your laptop, your curiosity, and your commitment to socialist principles. No previous knowledge of programming or election data analysis is required.
