The number of women in prison has grown by 700% over the last 30 years. Many women in confinement get sentenced and are forced to reside hundreds or thousands of miles away from their children, give birth in shackles, and are watched in showers by male guards.

We’re working to change all of that, but we need your help. Click the link below to sign our petition urging our legislators to improve the confinement conditions for incarcerated women in state and federal facilities across the country.

​​​​​Since 2017, Dream Corps JUSTICE’s Dignity for Incarcerated Women Campaign, led by formerly incarcerated women, has won improvements in living conditions for more than 30,000 women incarcerated in 12 states.

What does dignity look like? It means these women will no longer be subjected to invasive strip searches or inappropriate situations with male correctional officers. In addition, in five of these states, we’ve ended the practice shackling of women who are pregnant or placing them in solitary confinement, providing relief for over 9,100 currently incarcerated women, and any woman who may be incarcerated in the future.

These wins are impactful, but there’s still much work to be done. Sign our petition to urge our elected officials to protect the fundamental rights and dignity of all women behind bars!
