The Government has recently proposed a new Bill covering "a wide range of community safety issues and seeks to introduce measures which aim to have an impact on victims of crime, those who perpetrate crimes, and wider community safety."

But detractors have said that the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill (2021), currently racing through the House of Commons, presents greater threats to human rights, increases police power, and decreases accountability.

And while this Bill makes its way through Parliament, we are seeing a surge in awareness of the safety of our streets, incidents of over-policing, and a breakdown of trust between the police and the policed.

Join us on Tuesday 16 March to discuss the Bill, its aims, potential for meaningful implementation, and attitudes towards policing.
