[1]Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress

Friends -

March 11, 2020 was the day that marked the beginning of the new normal.

It was a Wednesday, and the World Health Organization had officially
categorized COVID-19 as a pandemic. An NBA game was halted just before tip
off, and some major public figures began sharing they had been infected by
the virus.

In the one-year since, the losses we’ve suffered have been tremendous. New
York City, especially NY-14, was hit first and worst – and our communities
are still reeling today.

Many members of our community continue to face food insecurity, and Team
AOC has invested in fundraising efforts and partnerships to support local
organizations’ food distribution programs during COVID and beyond.

Last Saturday, Loving the Bronx, Giving Friends, and Team AOC joined
forces to distribute 500 coats for children and over 200 bags of fresh
produce and dry foods to Bronx families.

Through emails like this one, our campaign has raised over $1.25 million
for mutual aid and other relief programs, and we need your help to
continue to provide urgent relief to those in need.

Unprecedented times take unprecedented efforts to make sure our neighbors
are being supported. That’s why we mobilized a full COVID response
operation including:

* 200,000 community check in calls
* 80,000 meals to families in need
* 100,000 masks to teachers, small businesses, and essential workers
* Organized 18,000 volunteers as part of our Homework Helpers program to
tutor kids one-on-one in remote learning

Not only are we providing direct relief in our community, but Alexandria
successfully lobbied and won funeral assistance so that families who’ve
lost a loved one to the virus are eligible for reimbursement of up to
$7,000 for the expenses of laying a loved one to rest.

Alexandria’s work in Congress and in the district is made possible through
grassroots donations. We know times are difficult, so if you’re not in a
place to donate – we understand.

[ [link removed] ]If you’re able, please split a $6 donation today to help
us continue to provide direct assistance and advocate for COVID relief for
all.

With thanks,

Team AOC
