John, elections have consequences and Republicans know it.

They know they can’t win unless they suppress our vote. That’s why – right

would restrict voting rights across the country.

The For the People Act would overrule most of the worst voter suppression
tactics being deployed by Republicans in the states, and Democrats can

The 2020 election was a frightening reminder of just how far some
politicians will go to suppress the legal vote of millions of people,
which means it’s even more urgent that we work to ensure all Americans can
make their voices heard at the ballot box.

The For the People Act would strengthen the Voting Rights Act, expand
vote-by-mail, and increase funding for election security.

It requires states to eliminate voter suppression tactics like ID
requirements, by allowing people to vote without identification if they
complete a sworn statement attesting that they are who they say they are.
It also stops states from purging voter rolls and mandates the
availability of same day registration nationwide.

It would not only eliminate voting restrictions on people with felony
convictions after they’ve served their time, it would also require states
to inform them in writing of their rights to vote.

see a grassroots groundswell of support nationwide to make sure they fight

The Heritage Foundation, a right-wing Republican "think" tank based in
Washington D.C. makes this case against the For The People Act:

"It would (among other things) implement nationwide the worst changes in
election rules that occurred during the 2020 election."

Let’s be honest, that was all I needed to hear to know I support it.

What they call "the worst changes," I call critical protections and
expansions to access that gets more voters to the polls and helps us all
save democracy in America.
