The 2020 election was a frightening reminder of just how far some politicians will go to suppress the legal vote of millions of people, which means it’s even more urgent that we work to ensure all Americans can make their voices heard at the ballot box.

The For the People Act would strengthen the Voting Rights Act, expand vote-by-mail, and increase funding for election security.

It requires states to eliminate voter suppression tactics like ID requirements, by allowing people to vote without identification if they complete a sworn statement attesting that they are who they say they are. It also stops states from purging voter rolls and mandates the availability of same day registration nationwide.

It would not only eliminate voting restrictions on people with felony convictions after they’ve served their time, it would also require states to inform them in writing of their rights to vote.

Stopping this bill is a top priority for Republicans. Democrats need to see a grassroots groundswell of support nationwide to make sure they fight to win. Help us get to 100,000 signers by adding your name right now.

The Heritage Foundation, a right-wing Republican "think" tank based in Washington D.C. makes this case against the For The People Act:

"It would (among other things) implement nationwide the worst changes in election rules that occurred during the 2020 election."
