Battleground southern states: VA, NC, GA, FL, LA, TX

Friend -- The South has long been a hotbed of Republican attempts to suppress democracy and curtail equal representation. Now they're at it again.

-- Georgia lawmakers are pushing voter suppression bills after the state went blue in 2020
-- Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott wants to make "election integrity" a focus of the 2021 legislative session
-- And several southern states are in danger of another decade of gerrymandering

At the NDRC, southern states have always been a part of our plan to stop map manipulation. Now that redistricting is here we're working to secure fair maps in SIX southern states. But we're going to need your help to do as much as we can in all of them. Will you pitch in to help us in the South and across the country?

Let's be clear about why there are so many gerrymandered districts and voter suppression laws in the South: It's home to 55 percent of the country's Black population. It is often their voices that Republicans are keeping out of our democracy through gerrymandering and voter suppression.

Restoring fair maps and fair elections is a mission that will make our country a more equitable place. But it's going to be a challenge and we're running out of time, so we have to ask: Will you pitch in now to help us stop gerrymandering and voter suppression in 2021?
