At the NDRC, southern states have always been a part of our plan to stop map manipulation. Now that redistricting is here we're working to secure fair maps in SIX southern states. Let's be clear about why there are so many gerrymandered districts and voter suppression laws in the South: It's home to 55 percent of the country's Black population. It is often their voices that Republicans are keeping out of our democracy through gerrymandering and voter suppression.
Restoring fair maps and fair elections is a mission that will make our country a more equitable place. But it's going to be a challenge and we're running out of time, so we have to ask: Will you pitch in now to help us stop gerrymandering and voter suppression in 2021?
