I wanted to take a quick sec to tell you if you hadn’t heard already:
Today João — most of you know him as John — announced that he is
officially running for Senate, and we need your help to make this first 24
hours big!

Look, John,
Pennsylvania will
be the most important Senate race of 2022 and I believe João has what it
takes to win. The pundits already have our race marked down as a
“toss-up.” We’re going to have to build a big campaign to win in all 67
Pennsylvania counties — and we have to start now. What we raise in the
first 24 hours is so important.

John, João has dedicated his
life to fighting inequality in our beautiful state of Pennsylvania. I know
my husband will bring that fight to the United States Senate, even if he
insists on wearing shorts year-round.

I first met João when he was Mayor of Braddock. I came to visit and learn
about the community. Then, he fell MADLY in love with me.

This wonderful community was overlooked and counted out, but João helped
create jobs and got young people engaged. The program he helped enact has
graduated GEDs for well over 1,000 young people. Under his leadership, we
created a community center, urban gardens, amenities, and opportunities.
Even a free store and women’s incubator space that I still run to this
day.

João and I are like hammers on the things we care about, and the things
you care about, whether it’s criminal justice reform, racial justice,
immigrants’ rights, legalizing weed, or LGBTQIA+ protections. We want to
show our kids that these are things worth fighting for.

wasn’t important: Can you please donate to our campaign? The earlier we
build a broad base of support, the better our chances at electing John. We
are thankful beyond words for your support.

And while I do rag on João 99% of the time… He’s the best person I know. 🥰
