John, João has dedicated his life to fighting inequality in our beautiful state of Pennsylvania. I know my husband will bring that fight to the United States Senate, even if he insists on wearing shorts year-round.

I first met João when he was Mayor of Braddock. I came to visit and learn about the community. Then, he fell MADLY in love with me.

This wonderful community was overlooked and counted out, but João helped create jobs and got young people engaged. The program he helped enact has graduated GEDs for well over 1,000 young people. Under his leadership, we created a community center, urban gardens, amenities, and opportunities. Even a free store and women’s incubator space that I still run to this day.

João and I are like hammers on the things we care about, and the things you care about, whether it’s criminal justice reform, racial justice, immigrants’ rights, legalizing weed, or LGBTQIA+ protections. We want to show our kids that these are things worth fighting for.
