Hi,
The last four years have made it clear we need to fix our democracy by
expanding voting rights, getting big money out of politics, and taking on
corruption.
Congress has a plan for that. It's called HR 1, the "For the People Act,"
and it would be the most sweeping voting rights legislation in decades.^1
But passing it won't be easy, especially in a closely divided Congress.
That's why we need you to step up right now and tell your representative
and senators you want them to pass HR 1 immediately!

In 2020 we saw unprecedented attacks on voting rights across America. HR 1
would address many of the problems we saw last year, things that urgently
need to be fixed before 2022 and 2024. HR 1 includes provisions that
would:^2
• Prevent states from restricting vote by mail
• Make it harder for states to limit voter registration
• Reduce gerrymandering
• Major campaign finance reforms
• Require presidential candidates to release their tax returns
• Apply a code of ethics to the Supreme Court
HR 1 passed the House in 2019, but Mitch McConnell blocked it in the
Senate. Now that McConnell no longer runs the Senate, HR 1 stands a much
better chance of becoming law.
But we need to ensure Senators don't obstruct it, and that they end the
filibuster to ensure this crucial bill can pass this time.

corruption?
Tell Congress: Pass HR 1 now!
Thanks for taking action,
Robert and the team at Demand Progress
