The last four years have made it clear we need to fix our democracy by expanding voting rights, getting big money out of politics, and taking on corruption.

Congress has a plan for that. It's called HR 1, the "For the People Act," and it would be the most sweeping voting rights legislation in decades.¹

But passing it won't be easy, especially in a closely divided Congress. That's why we need you to step up right now and tell your representative and senators you want them to pass HR 1 immediately!

In 2020 we saw unprecedented attacks on voting rights across America. HR 1 would address many of the problems we saw last year, things that urgently need to be fixed before 2022 and 2024. HR 1 includes provisions that would:²

• Prevent states from restricting vote by mail
• Make it harder for states to limit voter registration
• Reduce gerrymandering
• Major campaign finance reforms
• Require presidential candidates to release their tax returns
• Apply a code of ethics to the Supreme Court

HR 1 passed the House in 2019, but Mitch McConnell blocked it in the Senate. Now that McConnell no longer runs the Senate, HR 1 stands a much better chance of becoming law.

But we need to ensure Senators don't obstruct it, and that they end the filibuster to ensure this crucial bill can pass this time.
