Dear John,

Just a short follow-up to my last email to let you know that litigation modeled on the NhRP’s has finally freed an orangutan named Sandra from an Argentine zoo to a sanctuary. The judge in the case said of her decision: “I wanted to tell society something new, that animals are sentient beings and that the first right they have is our obligation to respect them.” Learn more here [[link removed]] , and stay tuned for a new section of our website that will analyze this decision and others worldwide that are important to the nonhuman animal rights movement.

Thank you!

Kevin Schneider
Executive Director, the NhRP
