, a guide to the LGBTQ-affirming policies we are advocating for this year. Our goals include legislation that protects renters, combats discriminatory policing, improves our state’s understanding of how New Yorkers are affected by hate crimes, and more. And we’re already seeing some exciting movement!
A bill to repeal of the “Walking While Trans” ban, a discriminatory criminal statute that has been used to harass and arrest trans women of color, will likely be voted on in New York’s Senate and Assembly this week. The fact that the bill has made it to this point is due to the continued leadership of Black and Brown trans, gender nonconforming, and nonbinary advocates, and those who have been directly impacted by the statute.
As lawmakers prepare to vote, they need to know that constituents like you support the repeal—and will hold them accountable for taking action! Contact your reps today with the help of the guide linked below.

We are laser-focused on helping to get this repeal over the finish line, and garnering lawmakers’ support for the entire People’s Platform from now through the end of New York’s legislative session in June. We are glad to have you by our side in this journey.
Thanks for all you do,
