One of those benefits is Danatech. Danatech connects school nurses with the devices, expertise and innovations shaping the future of diabetes care. NASN collaborates with the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES) to make Danatech available to NASN members at no cost. Each year, NASN members will need a new code to access Danatech. Members can log in at NASN.org to access the code. Articles will be available for six months and different articles will be highlighted every six months. This new Research Center is designed to increase NASN members’ access to current research related to school nursing and student health. PODCAST NASN Learning Center: New School Tools from CDC for a Healthy New Year CDC recently released toolkits for school personnel to use to consider and implement COVID-19 mitigation strategies in their K-12 schools. This course summarizes current COVID-19 data and statistics, reviews existing COVID-19 tools and resources, and describes tools that can be used to guide K-12 school personnel to reduce the risk of COVID-19 as in-person classes resume. NASN Press Release for Vaccination The National Association of School Nurses (NASN) supports vaccination against COVID-19. New Ad Council YouTube Video for Nurses Nurses: Answers for COVID-19 Vaccine Questions for Healthcare Providers features nurses from several national nursing organizations, including school nurse Gloria Barrera, the president of the Illinois School Nurse Association. This video provides information to address questions from families and other school community members on the COVID-19 vaccines. COVID-19 Communication Toolkit CDC created this communication toolkit to help public health professionals, health departments, community organizations, and healthcare systems and providers reach populations who may need COVID-19 prevention messaging in their native languages. In-person Schooling and COVID-19 Transmission A review of current evidence, compiled by UNICEF and UNESCO, shows that in-person schooling does not appear to be the main driver of infection spikes, children in school do not appear to be exposed to higher risks of infection compared to when not in school when mitigation measures are in place, and school staff also do not appear to be at a higher relative risk compared to the general population. Improving School Community and Student Health LGBTQ Youth Sexual Health On-demand Recording LGBTQ youth face unique challenges in their sexual, physical, and mental health as compared to their peers, and the lack of LGBTQ-inclusive sexual health education is a driving factor. A panel, featuring experts and LGBTQ youth, will cover important topics such as the need for inclusive curriculum and programs, addressing HIV among LGBTQ youth, and domestic, dating, and sexual violence among LGBTQ youth. These resources and materials are intended to help support your ongoing efforts to enroll eligible families in Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and remind them to make use of important benefits covered for their children and teens — such as the seasonal flu vaccine — as we approach peak flu season.
