In Annual Poll, Nurses Ranked Most Ethical &hellip; Again

Asked to rate the honesty and ethics of 15 occupational groups, Americans once more put nurses at the top, rating them even higher this year than in the past. &ldquo;Nurses remain the undisputed leader, as they have been for nearly two decades,&rdquo; reports Gallup in its summary of the 2020 poll.

Health Equity Action Forums Set for Coming Months
The first in a series of online forums devoted to nursing and health equity focuses on ways to diversify nursing&rsquo;s ranks. The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action and AARP&rsquo;s Multicultural Leadership host the virtual sessions that will bring together consumer, business, health care organizations, social justice, and other community groups in the coming months.

Paper Urges Improvement in Workforce Projections
Accurately forecasting supply and demand in the nursing workforce is critical to America&rsquo;s health. Yet projections made by the Health Resources and Services Administration in 2014 and 2017 showed unexpected and surprising changes, partly because of widely differing measurement models. Policy Brief Urges Actions To Build Trust in Vaccines


Based on &ldquo;a woeful history of maltreatment,&rdquo; communities of color and tribal communities&mdash;both populations that have been hit especially hard by COVID-19&mdash;are also among those most hesitant to get the vaccines. In late 2020, Trust for America&rsquo;s Health, the National Medical Association, and UnidosUS created recommendations for policy actions to earn trust within these communities to encourage greater use of the vaccine.

Yes, nurses are heroes, and now Marvel Comic, with Allegheny Health Network, gives nurses &ldquo;real-life superhero treatment.&rdquo; &ldquo;The Vitals,&rdquo; a comic book that is serious about honoring nurses, transforms nurses and their heroics into characters that spring to comic-book life. Says one nurse: &ldquo;We don&rsquo;t think of ourselves as heroes, but it&rsquo;s a good feeling to be recognized as one.&rdquo;

The Health Resources and Services Administration&rsquo;s Nursing Workforce Diversity Program increases nursing education opportunities for people from disadvantaged backgrounds. To strengthen the complex care ecosystem in your community, says the National Center for Complex Care and Social Needs, apply for its Community Ecosystem Learning Collaborative.
