Yesterday one of my committees held a hearing on Trump's detention camps, and you would have thought we were hearing about Dickensian London, not the United States today.

People locked in cages like animals . Crying children covered in filth without soap. And Trump's former ICE director there saying he's the real victim.

Make no mistake, folks: none of us would allow this for our own children. This barbarism is by design. It's the main feature of Trump's racist immigration policies -- intended to stoke fear in immigrant communities and fire up his far-right base.

Rachel Maddow covered the hearing last night and got it right: I couldn't contain myself after hearing about the horrific conditions Trump is keeping people in and the excuses from his former ICE director.

These camps are indefensible and un-American. Will you add your voice to mine and DEMAND that Trump close them now? You can sign on here.
